Endocrine System

illu_endocrine_system_new

The endocrine system has glands that secrete chemicals (hormones) that act on other organs. These horones are secreted by endocrine glands hormones into the surrounding extracellular fluid (they are ductless) where they pass into the blood stream to be carried to all parts of the body. Endocrine glands thus differ from exocrine glands, such as sweat and oil glands, that secrete chemicals through ducts onto epithelial surfaces.
